What is Color Palette Extraction & Why It's Essential?
Open an image, select an area, and this page groups the pixels in that area. A browser worker runs k-means on those pixels in RGB. You choose how many colors to keep. Each result is a hex value, an RGB value, and a pixel count.
Copy places the hex value on the clipboard. The page does not read a website address, check contrast, build complementary colors, or export a design system.

Professional Color Analysis Workflow

Open a picture you already have. This page does not fetch a website, and it does not normalize, denoise, or adjust contrast before grouping colors. A clear photo with distinct color areas is easier to read than a noisy or heavily compressed one.
Pro Tip: Use images with clear visual hierarchy and distinct color zones. Avoid images with excessive noise, compression artifacts, or extreme lighting conditions for optimal color extraction accuracy.
How the colors are grouped
The worker groups the selected pixels with k-means. Distance is ordinary RGB, not CIELAB. It does not detect harmony, balance, or patterns, and it does not add complementary colors. You set how many groups to keep.

No. You open an image from your device. A worker in the browser groups the colors. The file is not posted to ScaScan.
How are the colors chosen?▼
The selected pixels are grouped with k-means in RGB. You choose how many colors to keep. Each result shows a hex value, an RGB value, and how many pixels fell into that group. It does not build complementary or analogous schemes.
Can I paste a website address?▼
No. Open an image file, or a screenshot you already saved. The tool does not fetch a page from a URL.
What happens to my original images after color extraction?▼
The original file on your device is not overwritten. The page reads it into memory to sample pixels. Closing the tab drops that copy. Nothing is written back to the file.
