This Privacy Policy describes how Scascan (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the Scascan AI Keyboard iOS application (the “App”). By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Scascan AI Keyboard is a custom keyboard extension that provides AI-powered text generation, grammar correction, translation, tone adjustment, and smart reply features. It is available on the Apple App Store.

📊 2. Information We Collect

We collect minimal information to operate the App. Here is what we collect and why:

a) Information You Provide Directly

• API Key (Free Tier): If you use the Free plan, you provide your own DeepSeek API key. This key is stored locally on your device using iOS Keychain / secure local storage. We do not transmit, collect, or have access to your API key on our servers.
• Subscription Information (Premium Tier): If you subscribe to Premium, your subscription is managed entirely through Apple's in-app purchase system. We do not collect or store your payment details.
• Support Requests: If you contact us for support, we may collect your email address and the content of your message to respond to your inquiry.

b) Information Collected Automatically

• Usage Metrics: We track basic, anonymized usage counts (e.g., number of AI requests made) locally on your device to enforce free-tier rate limits. These counts are not transmitted to our servers.
• Crash Data: If the App crashes, Apple may collect crash logs through its standard crash reporting system (via Xcode / TestFlight). These logs do not contain your typed text or personal data.

c) Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not log, record, or store your keystrokes
• We do not collect your contacts, photos, location, or device identifiers
• We do not build user profiles or sell any data

🤖 3. How the AI Features Work

Scascan AI Keyboard uses artificial intelligence to provide features such as text generation, grammar correction, translation, tone adjustment, and smart replies. Here is exactly how these features process your text:

1. You select or type text in any app and then tap an AI action button on the Scascan keyboard (e.g., “Translate,” “Fix Grammar,” “Rewrite”).
2. The specific text you selected or entered for that AI action is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to the DeepSeek API, a third-party AI service, for processing.
3. The AI service processes your text and returns the result (e.g., a translation, a corrected version, or a rewritten version).
4. The result is displayed in the keyboard interface for you to accept, edit, or dismiss.

📝 4. How User Text Is Processed

When you use an AI feature, your selected text is transmitted to the DeepSeek API for processing. Here is what happens to your text:

• In Transit: Your text is sent over a secure, encrypted HTTPS connection.
• At the API: The text is processed by DeepSeek's AI models to generate the requested output (translation, grammar fix, rewrite, etc.).
• After Processing: According to DeepSeek's data handling policies, text sent via their API is used solely to fulfill the request and is not used to train their models. We encourage you to review DeepSeek's Privacy Policy for full details.
• On Your Device: The AI response is displayed temporarily in the keyboard UI. We do not store your submitted text or the AI responses on your device beyond the current session.

🔑 5. DeepSeek API Key Usage

The App uses the DeepSeek API to power all AI features. How the API key is managed depends on your subscription tier:

Free Tier (Bring Your Own Key):

• You provide your own DeepSeek API key during setup.
• Your key is stored exclusively on your device using iOS secure storage mechanisms (Keychain / UserDefaults with App Group).
• Your key is sent directly from your device to DeepSeek's API servers when you use an AI feature. It never passes through our servers.
• We cannot see, access, or recover your API key.

Premium Tier (Managed Key):

• Premium subscribers use a managed API key provided by Scascan.
• This key is bundled securely within the App and used to authenticate AI requests on behalf of Premium users.
• Premium users do not need to obtain or manage their own API key.

🛡️ 6. Data Storage & Security

We take the security of your data seriously. Here is how data is stored and protected:

• Local Storage Only: All user preferences, API keys, and usage counters are stored locally on your device. We do not operate a backend database that stores user information.
• Secure Storage: Sensitive data (such as API keys) is stored using iOS Keychain services or encrypted local storage, which is protected by your device's hardware security.
• App Group Sharing: The App uses iOS App Groups to securely share settings between the main app and the keyboard extension. This data remains on your device and is sandboxed by iOS.
• Encrypted Transmission: All communication with the DeepSeek API uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
• No Server-Side Storage: We do not store your text, AI responses, or any personal data on any server.

🔗 7. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services:

• DeepSeek API: Provides the AI models that power text generation, translation, grammar correction, and other AI features. When you use an AI feature, your selected text is sent to DeepSeek for processing. Please review DeepSeek's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle data.
• Apple App Store / StoreKit: Manages in-app purchases and subscriptions for the Premium tier. All payment processing is handled by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment information. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Apple Crash Reporting: Apple may automatically collect crash logs if the App encounters an error. These logs help us identify and fix bugs. They do not contain your typed text or personal data.

We do not integrate any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or social media trackers within the App.

📈 8. Analytics & Crash Reporting

Analytics: The App does not include any third-party analytics frameworks (such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar). We do not track your behavior, screen views, or usage patterns.

Crash Reporting: We rely on Apple's built-in crash reporting through Xcode Organizer and TestFlight. If you have opted in to share diagnostics with app developers through your iOS Settings, Apple may share crash reports with us. These reports contain technical information about the crash (e.g., stack traces, device model, OS version) but do not contain your typed text, personal data, or API keys.

Scascan AI Keyboard is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the email address below, and we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

Because we store virtually no personal data on our servers, most traditional data rights apply differently to our App. However, you have the following rights:

• Access & Deletion: Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control. You can delete all App data by uninstalling the App, or by clearing its data through iOS Settings.
• API Key Removal: You can remove your API key at any time from the App's settings screen.
• Subscription Management: You can manage or cancel your Premium subscription at any time through Apple's subscription management in iOS Settings.
• Contact Us: If you have questions about your data or wish to exercise any privacy rights, contact us using the information in Section 12 below.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you may have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, new features, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will:

• Update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page
• Post the revised policy at this same URL
• Where possible, notify users through an in-app notice
